What to do after B. Pharmacy?

results have been released. PG CET entrance test results are going to
be released soon. In this scenario, let us know which course to choose
and which specialization to choose, after B. Pharmacy.
There are increasing numbers of employment opportunities for B.
Pharmacy graduates in India and foreign countries also. But, those who
have completed post graduation in pharmacy are getting better
opportunities when compared to B. Pharmacy graduates. There are varied
specializations in post graduation course after B. Pharmacy.
M. Pharmacy:
This is two year course. In the first year of two semesters, theory
and practical will be present. In the second year, project reports have
to be submitted after conducting researches in college/Pharma
industry/laboratory. There are ten kinds of specializations in M.
Pharmacy. Among them, pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy,
pharmaceutical analysis are attractive branches or those which have
more demand. Those who have studied quality assurance will have
lucrative career opportunities in Pharma industry. Those who have
studied pharmacy practice specialization will have employment
opportunities in hospitals and as teaching staff in colleges.
In Andhra Pradesh, M. Pharmacy seats are given in government and
private colleges based on rank in Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test
(G-PAT). Seats in M. Pharmacy which are left after giving for GPAT
qualifiers will be given to the candidates who have qualified in PG CET.
There are 64 colleges in Andhra Pradesh offering M. Pharmacy. They
offer nearly 1470 M. Pharmacy seats in them. There is a chance of
increase of number of seats in M. Pharmacy this year.
Pharma-D (Post Bachelorette): There
is no chance for B. Pharmacy graduates who have completed graduation
after 2003 to take up job in Community Pharmacy in America. To surpass
this difficulty, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has introduced six
years Pharma-D course in India in 2008. It can be taken after
completing intermediate.
For the convenience of B. Pharmacy graduates, three year Pharma-D (Post
Bachelorette) course has been introduced. First batch of Pharma-D (PB)
is going to pass out in the year 2011. In India, 53 colleges are
offering Pharma-D course. Numbers of seats in them are 1590. Post
Bachelorette Pharma-D course is offered by 27 colleges in India. Numbers
of seats in them are 270. In Andhra Pradesh there are 19 Pharma-D
colleges offering 570 seats and 6 Pharma-D (PB) offering 60 seats.
M. S Course:
National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER),
BITS Pilani, Alliance Institute of Hyderabad and other institutes are
offering M.S course with different specializations. As like in M.
Pharmacy course, Pharmaceutics, industrial pharmaceutics and
pharmaceutical analysis specializations have good demand in M. S also.
Specializations of regulatory affairs and patents also provide good
career opportunities.
Rank in GPAT is essential to get admitted into MS in NIPER. Along with
it, one needs to get a rank in the entrance test conducted by the
institute. In the same way, those who want to get admitted into BITS
Pilani, Alliance Institutes needs to qualify in the entrance test
conducted by those institutes.
As like in M. Pharmacy, students need to conduct researches and prepare
project report in M.S also, after which only M.S degree is awarded.
MBA:
Pharmacy graduates who have interested in marketing, international
marketing, management fields can take up Master of Business
Administration course. NIPER, Manipur Varsities are offering management
courses in pharmacy.
PhD:
M. Pharmacy, Pharma-D course candidates are eligible to take up PhD
course. Students need to conduct research on any topic of Pharma field
and submit the results in the form of thesis.
Special training in pharmacy:
Those who want to get a job in Pharma industry after B. Pharmacy can
get special training offered by Hitech institute with the help of NATCO
Pharma, Hyderabad. This institute offers teaching by senior experts of
famous Pharma companies along with practical training in Pharma
